Meaning: "Bright one" On 23 October 2020, Weltevreden Estate, Stellenbosch, launched our first range of wines, Bertha®. Bertha Wines pays homage to the late mother of our owner, Andre Bezuidenhout. During her life, Bertha was a shining light to everyone who knew her. Bertha made the most of the life that she was given, notwithstanding all the hardships she had to endure. Bertha kept the family together – like the terroir of our unique, South-facing slopes at Weltevreden. In 2020, a year known for moving us all from our comfort zones, we chose to follow Bertha’s example of brightness! We are proud to introduce Bertha Sauvignon Blanc and Bertha Rosé that will exclusively be available at Jonkershuis 1692 (Weltevreden Estate), Ons Huisie, On The Rocks and Bohemia Restaurants.
